Can We Predict Your Favorite Celebrity Based on Your Favorite Dog Breed?
These are the actors, comedians, and public figures beloved by fans of America’s most popular breeds — and the dogs these celebrities have in their own homes.
Our choice in canine companion says a lot about us — the dogs we choose reflect our personalities, our aesthetic tastes, and even our physical appearances. But according to Ranker data, the relationship between humans and their favorite dogs goes even further. Ranker’s list of The Very Best Dog Breeds has been voted on by over 27,000 dog lovers, and we’ve found that people who voted for different breeds also tended to vote for different celebrities on a host of other highly popular lists. In other words, your favorite dog breed could help us predict which actors, comedians, and public figures you love most.
We’re connecting fans of America’s top breeds to the celebrities they love most on Ranker. And just for fun, we’ve included some information about the pets each of these celebrities call their own.
LABRADOR RETRIEVER FANS LOVE: Sandra Bullock

Labs are one of the most popular and best-known breeds of man’s best friend, so it makes sense that the people who love them also love one of the country’s most popular and best-known actresses: Sandra Bullock. Those who vote for Labrador retrievers on our list of dog breeds are 6X more likely to also vote up the Academy Award-winning star of The Blind Side on our list of The Most Trustworthy Celebrities In The World.
SANDRA BULLOCK LOVES: Poodles
Bullock doesn’t discriminate when it comes to dogs: the actor has spoken publicly about her affection for her special-needs pets. She’s currently the owner of an adorable mini-poodle, and took care of her beloved adoptees Ruby and Poppy until October 2018, when both pets sadly passed away.
GOLDEN RETRIEVER FANS LOVE: Ryan Reynolds

The golden retriever is currently #1 on the list, and the almost 7,000 people who voted for the breed are 9X more likely to vote up Ryan Reynolds on our list of The Best (Male) Actors Working Today.
RYAN REYNOLDS LOVES: Golden retrievers
Reynolds happens to share a love for this breed with his fans! He and his wife Blake Lively own a goldie named Baxter, who last year got a little more birthday love from Reynolds than Lively did, according to her comment on an Instagram post.
GERMAN SHEPHERD FANS LOVE: Ian McKellen

This intimidating but often adorable breed is very popular among Ranker voters, and the English actor Ian McKellen is very popular among those who voted for it. German shepherd fans are 3X as likely as the average Ranker reader to vote up the man who played both Gandalf and Magneto on our list of The Best Actors In Film History.
IAN MCKELLEN LOVES: Boxers
McKellen is a big dog lover, and apparently will stop for a photograph with any four-legged friend he spots on the street. But in a Reddit AMA he confessed that his ideal dog would be a boxer — “preferably one who would outlive me.”
AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD FANS LOVE: Amy Adams
Smart, sweet, and full of energy, it’s hard not to like an Australian shepherd. Similarly, it’s hard not to like Amy Adams, the star of both crowd-pleasing blockbusters like Justice League and Oscar fare like Arrival and Doubt. And if you like one, it’s very likely you’ll also love the other: fans of the Australian shepherd are more likely to vote for Amy Adams on our list of The Most Trustworthy Celebrities In The World than any other public figure.
AMY ADAMS LOVES: Chihuahuas
While we’re sure Adams has nothing against the Australian Shepherd, she clearly has a soft spot for chihuahuas — she adopted two of them, named Pippy and Sadie.
BORDER COLLIE FANS LOVE: Russell Crowe
Photo: Dreamworks Pictures
One of the best-known herding dogs, the border collie literally runs circles around other breeds. Those who are drawn to this particular doggo also love Russell Crowe, as they’re more likely to vote up the Gladiator star on our list of The Best Actors In Film History than any other star.
RUSSELL CROWE LOVES: Australian Shepherds
Crowe himself likes a different kind of herding dog. He takes his Australian cattle dog (also known as a blue heeler) QueBlue everywhere, which sometimes gets the pair into trouble — a few years ago, the star was denied entry to a rugby game because he tried to bring QueBlue with him.
SIBERIAN HUSKY FANS LOVE: Rowan Atkinson
Photo: WallpaperUse
The husky is a big, majestic breed that reminds us of its wolf ancestors, but is nonetheless domestic and friendly — sort of an odd pairing with Rowan Atkinson, the famously silly and approachable British comedian. But odd or not, those who voted up the Siberian husky on our list of the best breeds are 6X more likely to vote for the Mr. Bean star on our list of The Funniest People Of All Time.
ROWAN ATKINSON LOVES: Cockaliers (?)
It’s not clear exactly what breed of dog Rowan is so fond of taking on walks near his London home, but our best guess is that the adorable pooch is a cockalier, a mix of the Cavalier King Charles spaniel and cocker spaniel breeds.
BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG FANS LOVE: Barack Obama

Fans of the big and beautiful Bernese have a politically liberal bent — or they’re just charmed by Obama’s personality! Either way, Ranker Insights says that those who voted up the Bernese mountain dog on our dog breed list are 4X more likely to vote up the 44th president on our list of The Most Trustworthy Celebrities In The World.
BARACK OBAMA LOVES: Portuguese Water Dogs
You’d probably remember a 100-pound hound like the Bernese bounding about the White House during the Obama years. The then-first family opted for a slightly smaller breed, adopting two Portuguese water dogs named Bo and Sunny in 2009 and 2013, respectively.
BEAGLE FANS LOVE: Tina Fey

Fans of the famously adorable beagle breed are also big fans of Tina Fey, one of the 21st century’s most influential TV comedians. But it isn’t just about the laughs for Beagle lovers — they’re more likely to vote for the 30 Rock star and creator on The Most Trustworthy Celebrities In The World than any other celeb on the list.
TINA FEY LOVES: Poodles
Though Tina has gone on record saying she has “no affinity for animals,” the Fey family still has a furry companion named Teddy. It’s not entirely clear what the breed is, but it seems pretty clear that Teddy has at least a little poodle in him.
WELSH CORGI FANS LOVE: Julie Andrews
