Set on a parallel Earth within the Arrowverse, Stargirl is more than just a simple story about a high school girl with superpowers. Starring Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, the series manages to create a family-friendly story that has captivated fans of the DC universe, as well as critics.

This addition to the CW family of DC Comics series is directed toward teen girls and their families — it’s a feel-good sci-fi series about a high school student who transforms into a superhero after discovering a powerful artifact. Also starring Luke Wilson, Yvette Monreal, Amy Smart, and Anjelika Washington, the show follows a new generation of young heroes as they dole out beatings to bad guys, evildoers, and the occasional math test.

Stargirl boasts an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and critics and fans love the way the show blends themes of friendship and family with the action and adventure of a superhero series. As fans eagerly away the sophomore season of the CW series, Ranker Insights is taking a look at the audience who tunes in to watch, using our data to pull info about the viewers and learn about their other interests.

Who’s Watching Stargirl

Even with only one season in the bank, The CW’s Stargirl has an engaged audience made up of fans of the Arrowverse, DC Comics fanatics, and families who enjoy watching superhero movies and shows together. We used Ranker Insights to find out more about who exactly is watching the show, and who is most likely to binge-watch its second outing.

SUPERHEROINE FANS

It’s no surprise that a large portion of the Stargirl audience enjoy watching other superhero shows, but there seems to be a trend within the trend: viewers of Stargirl are drawn toward other sci-fi outings that put women in the driver’s seat.

Fans of Stargirl are 9X more likely than the average Ranker voter to check out Supergirl and 6X as likely to watch Batwoman, two other femme-focused superhero shows from The CW. Both shows have a female lead, with one following the young cousin of Superman and the other centering on an ex-con who takes over for Batman in Gotham City after the Caped Crusader goes MIA.

People who watch Stargirl are also 6X as likely to watch Netflix’s Jessica Jones, the Marvel-based detective who can pack quite a punch.

CW AND ARROWVERSE FANATICS

Considering that Stargirl is a part of CW’s Arrowverse, which started with the show Arrow back in 2012, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that there’s a lot of crossover between the fan bases of the Arrowverse’s various shows.

Fans of Stargirl are 7X more likely to check out The Flash, which began its run back in 2014, and Black Lightning, a newer entry to the Arrowverse that ran from 2018 to 2021. And of course, you can’t have a discussion about the Arrowverse without bringing in Arrow. Fans are almost 5X as likely to check out the show that started it all, which ran from 2012 until 2020.

THOSE WHO LOVE EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING ABOUT DC COMICS

Marvel and DC Comics each have their own fan base. For many, there is no discussion as to who has the better heroes — characters such as Batman, Superman, and the entire Justice League have made their mark on generations of fans.

Viewers of Stargirl are almost 8X as likely to watch HBO Max’s Titans, a dark and gritty reboot of the DC Comic mainstays the Teen Titans. They are also 6X as likely to watch Fox’s Gotham, a prequel to Batman that follows a young Commissioner Gordon before he gets his hands on the Bat Signal. And finally, fans of Stargirl are almost 4X as likely to check out Superman & Lois, which follows the Man of Steel with his favorite leading lady. Mixing romance with action and adventure, the new series hits home with fans of Stargirl.
