Tina Turner’s authorized biographical documentary Tina will officially premiere on HBO March 27. Though she’s a household name today, at one point in Turner’s career, people wondered if the legendary diva would ever be able to shed her association with her abusive ex-husband and partner Ike Turner after the two had a very nasty, public divorce. It’s appropriate that the film will premiere during Women’s History Month: Tina tells the story of a woman who steps out of the shadow cast by the men in her life to seize control of her career, her personal life, and her legacy.

We’re celebrating the release of this rock-doc by taking a look at how Tina Turner ranks on some of our most popular lists — as well as the tastes and preferences of her biggest fans.

And the 81-year-old also has an enviable #3 spot on the list of Rock Stars Who Have Aged Surprisingly Well.

What Do Tina’s Fans Love?

Hundreds of thousands of votes have been cast for Tina Turner on some of Ranker’s most popular lists. What and who else do those fans vote for? Ranker Insights can tell us more about the likes and dislikes of Tina’s biggest fans.

Other Musicians

Turner’s fans on Ranker are Motown fans first: They’re more likely to love Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight and the Pips than any other musical artists. Since Turner’s career has spanned many decades and genres, it’s no surprise that her fans have eclectic tastes. They’re drawn to everything from ‘60s pop rock from artists like Bobby Rydell, to ‘80s R&B legends like Stevie Wonder and Whitney Houston, to contemporary artists like the Chainsmokers and Indonesian pop star NIKI.

Public Figures

When it comes to Hollywood actors, fans of Tina Turner have a thing for leading men from the UK, including Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, and Henry Cavill. They’re also statistically more likely than the average Ranker voter to be fans of female comedians like Ellen DeGeneres, Lily Tomlin, and Vicki Lawrence. And when it comes to politics, Turner’s fan base is pretty ambivalent: they’re twice as likely to think positively about Michelle Pfeiffer as they are about Michelle Obama, and three times more likely to love Bernie Mac than Bernie Sanders.

Favorite TV Shows

It seems like the average Tina Turner fan loves classic sitcoms. Their top 3 favorite shows are The Golden Girls, Seinfeld, and Friends. That’s not to say they can’t appreciate prestige TV dramas, either: they’re three times more likely than the average Ranker viewer to love The Sopranos, which likely means they already have the HBO Max subscription they need to check out Turner’s brand new documentary.
